Thanks for checking out the Super Wing Commander for Macintosh Demo from ORIGIN Systems, creators of software Worlds.
REQUIREMENTS: Any 68040-based Mac or any PowerPC, 6 Megs Total Ram with 4500k Free Ram, 8-bit 256 color grapics, color monitor, System 7.0 or above, 2X CD-ROM or greater
RECOMMENDED: 8 megs RAM, joystick
To get the maximum performance out of your machine for the demo, you should follow the guidelines below:
VERY IMPORTANT:
You MUST turn off Quick Time when running the demo. At this point, Quick Time will degrade game performance. Without Quicktime, you will not be able to get music. This will be resolved in the final version of the game.
You will need to free up as much available memory as you can. The Super Wing demo requires 4500k of FREE memory, which means your Macintosh must have at least 6 megs of TOTAL memory. With less than 4500k of free memory, you may not be able to get sound or music.
FREEING UP MEMORY:
You can free up memory by disabling any extensions that the game does not need. The only extensions that you SHOULD have loaded for the demo are your CD-ROM extension, your joystick extension if one is needed, and any machine-specifc extensions such as a SCSI adapter, etc, if any are needed at all.
NOTE: Virtual memory must be turned OFF, or the games performance may substantially decrease. If you are using a PowerPC, make sure the Modern Memory Manager is turned ON. Also, disable any screen saver you have active.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
PROBLEM: You are experiencing pauses or long load times during the movies.
SOLUTION: Turn off your Quick Time extensions and restart the machine. You will not hear music without Quicktime, but the game will speed up.
PROBLEM: You are not getting sound or music during the demo.
SOLUTION: If you are not getting any sound, you must enable sound from the pull-down menus. Move your cursor to the top of the screen until the menu bar appears, select "options", and turn sound and music on from there.

KEYBOARD COMMANDS:
All of the following commands can be accesed from the pull-down menu at the top of the screen. To access this in flight, you must switch to keyboard mode and move the cursor to the top of the screen. After making your selection, you can then switch back to control mode you were in before (mouse or joystick).
